How To Print Our Flyer
So It Prints Correctly
Ok, if you have had any trouble printing the
flyer for the John Mayall show, or any of the others (i.e. it loads into
Internet Explorer and doesn't fit on the page when you try to print it,
here is what you need to do.
When you click on the thumbnail image of the
flyer on the web site, you get another window with a larger
version of the flyer on your screen. As soon as the image is
finished downloading to your computer, Internet Explorer then scales the
image down so you can see the entire image on screen. Move your cursor OFF the picture,
and then back over the LOWER RIGHT corner of the image. A small
four-way arrow icon will appear. Clicking on this icon will display the
image at it's correct size. Now, RIGHT-CLICK on
the image to bring up a menu that will let you SAVE AS. You
select the drive and folder you want to save the flyer file in, and the
flyer file is now saved on your hard drive in that location.
Open up the Windows Paint
program. You can find it here... Start, All
Programs, Accessories, and then look for the
Paint icon.
Click on the File Menu in
the program, and click on Open, and then locate the
flyer file on the drive and folder you saved it to previously.
Now, click on the File Menu in the program,
and click on Page Setup. Orientation
should be set to Portrait, Margins should be set to a
half inch (0.5), and Scaling should be set to Fit To,
and 1 x 1 Pages. This should show you a
grayed out representation in the Preview window on the left,
showing what the flyer will look like in relation to the
printable page. Click on OK so the settings are effective.
You may need to adjust your margins if your printer will not print
within a half an inch of the edge of the paper. To do this, try
changing it to three-quarters of an inch (0.75).
Now, click in the File Menu again,
and click on Print Preview. Does the entire flyer show up
correctly in the preview window? If so, click on Print.
If not, double check your settings to see if you missed something, and
try again.
This should solve your flyer printing
problems, unless of course you are using a different operating system,
in which case you will need to find your own fix.

NEW PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR 300 DPI IMAGES
SUGGESTIONS FOR PRINTING: These
flyers are created at 300 DPI (dots per inch). Therefore you may
need to check your print settings to make sure it is sized correctly
BEFORE you print it. To do this, simply download the image by
right-clicking on it, and save it to your Desktop or other folder of your
choice.
Next, click on Start, Programs,
Accessories, and open the Windows "Paint" program. You will see the
image very large, but that's ok. Go to the FILE menu, and click on
Page Setup. If you are printing a picture that is oriented
width-wise, then select the Landscape orientation... if the pic is
oriented normally, then select Portrait.
Next, in the Margins section, make sure
Left, Right, Top, & Bottom are set to 0.5". This leaves a half inch
margin, usually your printer's default printable edge. Uncheck the
Centering for both Horizontal and Vertical. Under scaling, click on
the radio button labeled "Fit to:" and make it "1" by "1" page(s), then
click OK.
Now, click on the FILE menu again, and then
on Print Preview. If the image appears correctly, then go ahead and
click on Print. If not, repeat the steps above to orient the picture
correctly, and then check it in Print Preview, and print.
I am now creating these flyers in 300 DPI
because they are still very legible when scaled down, and they look pretty
good when you take them to Kinkos and print them on a higher quality paper
than regular office stock. However, they still look pretty good on
regular paper. Feel free to print them up and pass them around to
your friends!
